Oh, man. I am over the moon for this one! Literary hero, feminist s/hero, and all around cool ass babe, Inga Muscio will be calling into our li’l SG Radio family on Sunday, March 25th. Why the hell am I givin’ you so much notice?! Well, because, if you’re like me, your life was completely shifted by her seminal piece of paperbound genius, “Cunt.”

And, if not… I want to give you time to buy/rent it before March 25th! “Cunt” was the book that nearly got me fired from a temp job when I was 21, and stupidly paraded it around the office of a company that hired me to be a phone monkey. It was many moons ago, but there I was in my floor length skirts and tights tank tops, answering multiple lines at a spot that designed sets for wrap parties. Intermittently stealing glances and nearly rip-turning pages from this illicitly-feminist book! (Not to mention taking walk-breaks during lunch and being mistaken for a porn star — our offices resided cozily beside a porn set. No, I wish I was kidding.)

In addition, my debut monologue for Eve Ensler’s off-the-hook The Vagina Monologues at the DGA in ’07 was the piece “Cunt.” Coincidence? I think not…

This Sunday (Feb 19) we’re having a women’s writers’ retreat in the SG Radio Studio with a love junkie and a woman trapped. Hosts Nicole Powers (SG’s Managing Editor) and Darrah de jour (SG’s resident post-feminist sex and sensuality expert) will be joined in studio by Love Junkie author and Writers on Fire coach Rachel Resnick and her frenemy, actress, comedian, playwright and author Lauren Weedman, a.k.a. Horny Patty (we’re told by Rachel that she had that nickname prior to her “cameo” in HBO’s Hung!). The two met online on a UCLA Book Proposal Writing course, and have been unhealthily competitive ever since. We therefore expect the claws to be out and the sparks to fly, so it should be a fun show.

When Darrah’s not steering the conversation towards the topic of porn or polyamory, and Nicole’s not banging on about Occupy, ACTA or the freakin’ NDAA, we’ll be more or less on topic, yakking about writing. That’s right. Writing. Like, books ‘n’ shit. Stories. Sketches. Plays. Real writing. Surreal writing. Automatic writing. Manual writing. And ghost writing. Since doing this shit is hard. Very hard. Like if you’re JK Rowling rich, fuck it, you should just pay someone else to do it and go get your nails done. Really.
